WALDEMAR KOLBUSZ
Born 1969, Perth, Western Australia
1987 Commenced Bachelor of Arts (UWA) Visual Arts Major
1991 Completed Bachelor of Commerce degree (UWA)
1994 Completed post graduate studies (CPA) and travelled Europe, Japan and USA
1996 started to paint full-time
Waldemar Kolbusz is known for his bold abstract expressionist works. With a striking focus on colour and form, Kolbusz’s paintings quiver with jutting and overlapping blocks of steeped colour, whilst also having a more frangible quality, focusing on line and surface. Rather than safely erring towards depictions of recognizable reality, Kolbusz would much prefer to render ‘life’ on his canvasses in organic blotches, stains, smudges and streaks.
Kolbusz began working as a full-time artist in 2000. He is a prolific abstract painter who has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions throughout Australia and his work is part of several high profile corporate, public and private collections in Australia, New York, Brunei, Germany and Spain.
